NASCAR docks Robby Gordon 100 points, suspends crew chief
Daytona Beach, FL - NASCAR announced Wednesday that it has docked Robby Gordon 100 points, and his crew chief was fined $100,000 and suspended for six races for infractions found at Daytona International Speedway.
Gordon's No. 7 Dodge car was found to have an unapproved front bumper cover during opening day inspection for the Daytona 500. As a result, Gordon has been penalized 100 championship driver and owner points.
Crew chief Frank Kerr has been fined $100,000, suspended for the next six Sprint Cup Series events until April 9 and placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2008.
Gordon finished ninth in the season-opening Daytona 500. With the penalty, he drops to 40th in points with 42 -- one behind John Andretti and two ahead of Joe Nemechek.
