I called Bob's Ski Doo today and they were working on my sled. They said they would call me tomorrow and most likely I could pick it up tomorrow night.

I'm still a little nervous about all of this coming together.

I will install new 6" outside carbides, purchase some quarts of oil for the trip and that's it.

We will be riding up north in no time.

I can't stand it anymore! The thought of a week off hanging with a bunch of friends snowmobiling has bitten me. Can we leave today!

I'm ready to go! Checked oils, anti freeze, track tension, installed new pilot 5.7 skis, installed arctic cat saddlebags, I now have a "mutt" for a sled. Truck will be full of diesel and windshield wash. I will pick up a new set of winter blades.

Sounds like 595 and 597 might be our best bet and keeping our time on TQ5 to a minimum.  Although one good groomer pass could change everything...

"
Just got back from a route 5 loop all around the Gaspe Saturday and here is my take on conditions:

Cross Point to Matane: Excellent before the weekend, Good after. Grooming once a week.

Matane to St Anne: Ditto

St Anne to Petit Vallee: Fair to Good at best. Trails got ahead of them and have hard bumps that are not getting groomed out. Grooming once a week.

Petit Vallee to Perce: Fair to Poor. Trails are ahead of them, occassional grooming, trails not trimmed back. These clubs need help!!!

Perce to Cross Point: The interstate...great. Smooth hard base and trails stay good, even with use.

My advice is to avoid the northeast and head south on 595 which is always great unless there is a lot of snow.

Darn right I"m bringing the Yammi.  20mpg, no smoke (except from you guys!)quiet, even more comfortable than my Poo.  Will cruise at 65-70mph.  Plus I registered it already (I was panicking when I had it in the shop thinking I was going to have to register the Poo as well!)

I'm surprised by the remarks about poor grooming.  We will have fun no matter what happens.

DHL attempted to deliver my Trail Pass yesterday, but couldn't because I wasn't home to sign for it.  I made arrangements to have it today.

Are you really taking the Yamaha two up?

All the pieces are coming together.

I think #3 is back today so we should know soon.  here's a post on HCS from a guy who just got back from Gaspe...

"
I just got back from a week in the Gaspe as well. Rode 5 days did 1000 miles. Started in Matane at the Riotel. Getting to the motel was tough as much of the snow was lost between the hotel and the trail head. Once in the woods TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF SNOW! Trail 5 from Matane to Riviere Madelaine left something to be desired. It was definitely bumpy for Canadian standards. They were annoying by American standards. We still made the run starting at 8 AM and in by 6 PM with lots of stops for photos. I was definitely disappointed in the quality of the grooming but the scenery is second to none! From Riviere Madelaine to Perce through Murdochville we made starting at 8:30 and arrived at 2:30 again with lots of stops for photos and lunch. Then did some back country riding. Piston Alley is INSANE!!!!! Perce to Carleton was very good along Trail 5. Carelton back to Matane through La Cache was AMAZING! Make sure you stop and turn around to view the scenery.

The GASPE has got to be the most friendly and accomodating area to ride I have ever been to in my 35 years riding and I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!

I am doing some minor things to my sled this week to prepare for this pilgrimage to Gaspe'.

When I bring up Rimouski on Weather.com and go into the 10 day forcast, it actually shows days of our trip. That means we are in spitting distance of this trek.

Any word on whether there will be 8 on this trip?

Picked my sled up from the dealer last night (on board computer was flashing a code 84, needed the throttle positioning sensor reset or something like that..)   Did a few miles on my trails and all is good.  Tank is full as is my 2 gallon emergency tank (hope we don't need it).  I'm ready and psyched!!!!!!!!
