This is one of the saddest posts I've ever seen. You can actually feel the lonliness of #7 through his keen use of the 3rd person narrative. I almost wept at the conclusion of the weekend.
#7, well said about Memorial Day. I know I had the boys observe along with the moment of silence at the opening of the 500. I believe those that gave their all would want us to enjoy the day, it's exactly what they fought, and fight for.
There was chicken a plenty this past weekend at the WPR-HQ. Chicken all day and chicken all night. My love affair with chicken wings grows stronger every day. I understand that everyone has a busy schedule with family and friends.
I hope everyone took the time to appreciate the significance of Memorial Day. Those who served our country and helped provide our freedom deserve special recognition.
I also thank you for the invite, we didn't have many plans at all until about 48 hours ago. now we are on the run all weekend. I don't even think I'll be able to watch the 500!! That is bad.
I will be at WPR headquarters for the whole weekend with my kids. If anyone finds themselves bored, in the area or just wants to have a beer you are encouraged to stop by or call my cellphone.
There will be beer and barbeque and kids to play with all weekend.
