A second trip is not a slap in the face, it's another opportunity for anyone to participate.
Maybe the other trip is just Pittsburg to Montmagny and back on a long weekend. Perhaps it's a travel and ride on Saturday, ride Sunday, ride short day Monday back to work Tuesday.
I will propose a trip like this 3 or 4 times this winter. Two years back, #388 and I went to Groveton for 3 days of riding and nobody seemed to mind.
It's not like anyone is cancelling anything or preventing anyone from riding.
Yeah, it was too warm last year, and the lack of idiots coming around the corners in the opposite direction (except on the lasy day) took all the excitement out of the trip, Oh yeah the 10 feet of snow was too soft as well, I prefer a rock here and there. Will you listen yourselves people We decided on a date, either location (Gaspe or Valin) will have plenty of snow in March, live with it.
Last time I checked there were always 3 more weeks after the first week of each month, #7, so don't worry about work priorities. I understand Feb vaca but what about Jan again? I kind of miss the piercing frigid cold of northern Quebec in the dead of winter. Last year the weather was like a tropical vacation.
Only dates that got squashed for one reason or another. I may have been the biggest pain the as s by not being able to miss work at the beginning of any month.
Why the second week in March? Like #7 said, last year was a gift as far as snow. All the boards talk of closing shop in march. Why plan a big trip during questionable snow? Were there any other dates mentioned?
The "North of Montreal" idea would include Chiboumagau. The trip discussed would include the place we stayed at once in St. Zenon.
If we are truly riding the 2nd week of March then we will likely have to follow the snow and ride wherever that is. I believe last season's trip in March was an abberation and not the norm for snow conditions in March.
I believe another idea needs to be floated....
Two separate trips in 2009. All would be welcome on both but obviously most could only attend one.
I would like to go somewhere in mid or late February. I am restricted by not being able to go on the 1st-4th business days of any month no matter what.
Would that be a lame idea? a practical idea? or simply hedging one's bets on an annual trip?
Thanks for the meeting update #7, I appreciate it. What was the attendance? To be honest, it is a big deal for me to line up care and put other people out, and I did it for the first meeting but it seems members are more interested in chewing the fat than talking about the trip so it's just not worth all the hassle for me+the boys.
Was my proposal to Chiboumagau and to the west discussed? I talked w/ #10 about it and he was game except he said he heard you needed to bring extra gas on the top leg out of Chibougamau. If so, not sure how we could work that. Also, it seemed that some members want a night life. But I doubt there is anything that far out there. Perhaps on the last night back in town.
I would be game for Maine again. Caribou/Ft. Kent. And then we could do a day pass into Canada like the old days. With gas back down to $1.85 in the States, is that a consideration to lower cost? I even saw #13 suggesting we go back to 3 days riding. I guess it would depend on the destination and drive time.
I am also coming around to the Passion/Mt. Valin area again, but I would miss the progressive aspect. You're right, more to think about.
Not much past the date was decided. It looks like March 8-13th will be the dates. We went back and forth on this one and that's where it landed.
Gaspe was floated. Passion-Monts Valin was talked about. North of Montreal was even brought up. Northern Maine is also a possibility. Nobody is opposed to any of these and nor is anyone overly desperate about their proposal either.
We've got time to decide these things. It looks like we are going to use that time.
Anyone else have any ideas? Roll them on out here.
couldn't line up care at my house for tonight. school nights just don't work for my anymore. I can do tomorrow (Fri) night.

I notified #10 by a new thing I've discovered called texting. I didn't think communication with others could become more intrusive but I was wrong. so very wrong...
I am a texting maniac now. I don't even talk to people anymore. In fact, I now prefer to text with people. Ok, truth be told, I downright avoid contact w/ other human beings now and just text. This way I can stay in my underwear literally all the time. Don't shower, don't brush, don't dress, nothing. Just text.
The internet is such a pain now. all these words.... endless typing..... yadda, yadda, yadda. 160 character baby! that's it! if you can't say it in that - you're babbling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's my greatest personal challenge. I bet I can say more in 160 characters than anyone else. A challenge has been thrown down. let the texting begin!
