Not tonight buddy! I'm on a tear tonight! I'm bored stiff and in search of something to pique my interest until I am distracted by something else.
I am right now surrounded by maps of Quebec and the Gaspe Penninsula. All the trails, the restaurants, the accomodations, the moose pasta, the Great Quebec Blizzard of 2008, it's all coming rushing back to me in this moment of snowmobiling zen.
The cliffs, the switchback, elevation, THE SNOW!!!!!! I remember when we came around the corner and first saw it. The commanding voice of Sean Connery flooded my helmet and all I could hear in his brilliant prolific voice: "Welcome to the Rock". Oooooo, shivers down my spine.
If we go to the Gaspe again this year, we should skip the rock in order to do some of the southern trails heading anti-clockwise and slice up through the middle and ride west along the top of the penninsula at the end. could we really go back to there and not stay at Valga??
#99, you and #3 not chiming in is not helping the argument to go back. Many of the members are thinking of it so you can see it. You saw the pics, do you want to go?
My sled was happy there. But wait, now another voice, less bold but equally familiar. It's high in pitch, thin, but filled w/ conviction: "There is a town, in north Ontario, extreme comfort memory to spare, and in my mind I still need a place to go, all my changes were there."
Yes, north Ontario, the snow train, it's a sign, a beckoning. I want to see the blue, blue windows behind the stars, and the yellow moon on the rise.
The choices, we are so lucky! I don't care anymore - I feel like the headlight on a northbound train (name that reference). Whew, I gotta calm down, I'm gonna take a lap around the house to cool off.
I put on my flannel sheets last night. And the water pipe in my garage burst b/c I didn't drain it in time. It's coming.........
