The Trip is fine the way it is, sooner or later **** happens out of your control.
Our process of selecting a trip also works.....come to the meeting's , pitch your idea's, select a date and we all vote. (this is when change can Happen)
If you can go great, if you can't you will be missed and there is always next year (maybe) .

Those are all good observations #7 and well presented. It seems we are taking fewer day rides north. These are really an important part of the season. Of course the trip is the highlight each season. But these day trips make the season longer and create more memories.
My absence on the trip this year simply comes down to a mandatory last minute important meeting for work. There was no way for me to anticipate something like that and also no way for me to avoid. As #99 and #388 and now I can attest, employers don't give a sh!t about their employees personal lives anymore. It's meaningless to them. Most of us work for HUGE companies - like one person missing for one week will make or break anything. The part that bugs me is that they don't even try to work around it. It's just easy for them to say you should be here. They're taking advantage of the economy but I know I'll remember this when times are back to normal.
Anyway, a shorter, less expensive trip should help everyone in many ways.
You were missed on the trip and at the meetings. There has been all sorts of talk about shortening the trip, simplifying it and other adjustments.
#5 mentioned that this was his lowest mileage for a season ever. #99 wants to go back to January trips. It is getting more difficult to schedule for everyone with their careers and families.
We have 9-11 months to address these challenges and come up with a better solution than this past season's fiasco where the trip was only 3 hardcore riders.
Somehow I spent a few hundred less than last year. I even had my own room for two nights. I believe the favorable exchange rate and the hotel/dinner packages helped the cause.
Tuck the Yamaha away and set aside some time for next year. I plan on attending the trip every year. I think it's healthy to get away from both my family and work for a few days.
I'll see you up at the lake soon. Come pick me up in your Dad's pontoon boat some time and we'll have a beer.
I still have 20 Molsons and 1 Labatt Bleue left from our trip to Quebec.
Sorry for the lame appearance this season. I vow to never let something like this happen again. I gave up hunting and sledding this season for my new position...my boss can go screw himself next year and he reads this forum! As far as Saturday, I had the Flu for a week and I've never been sicker. Great way to lose weight! 17 lbs in 6 days. I didn't think you'de appreciate the bug!
Thanks Everyone for coming over, it was a fun evening. Great PICs, Videos, and lots of Laughs!
Thanks to #7 for saving us some of the Canadian Goods, I know it must have been hard !!! Thanks #5 for the Wings & Ribs...excellent !!! Thanks #2 for the DVD and #3 for the special delivery. and for you #388 well what can I say....certainly enjoyed having your wit in the crew.
All others, you were missed...
