I think changing everything at this point is a mistake. Every time we've gone in January in years past we worried up until the last minute and it's worked out ok. I believe Jan 12th is no time to panic.
In all likelihood we will get a large dump of a snowstorm on the days prior to us traveling, while we travel or during our trip.
Right now the least favorable place to ride on the Gaspe' is not up and running. I think that's no big deal now or during the trip.
I just spoke to Dale at that website and he thought in Chandler they would be up and running by the time we ride.
I don't even think my sled could make it through all that snow! Looks like the first part of our planned loop would be fine.
I have not yet booked St. Anne du Monts after the first day of riding b/c of all the discussion about snow conditions. Sounds like it's a safe bet though.
A conference call can be done on the computers using Skype. Should we plan a night next week for a discussion of status and options?
The snow report looks lousy. We need a meeting or a conference call or something.
What if we went right out of our hotel in Matapedia to Mont Joli. Then we could decide to go east to St Anne Des Monts or West and South to Rimouski to Rivier Du Loup, to Montmagny to Thedford Mines and back?
If it does not snow significantly in the next week, we should get together and come up with a new plan. Leaving out of Northern NH in Canada would be something different as well.
