RE: Post trip details

I love seeing the site countdown with less than one day. Just a few loose end to tie up and we'll be on the road.

Who started this thread as a "Post Trip?"  Shouldn't it be titled Pre-trip?

99's sled is running fine.  We just got done testing it in the killing fields.

4's sled is home.  He is offering tours of the neighborhood.

How about a day trip to the casino for lunch and a little black jack?  Then back to the HI.  I could use a chance to make up for the poor exchange rate 7 is hinting at.

Wednesday's ride is going to have a high temperature of 9 degrees. Bring your extra warm stuff for that day.

Wow, it's getting close.

#7,

There is a neat place near Roberval; you will see the sign.

"The data on the Mig is incorrect"
"I, we just happened to be in a 4g dive with a mig"
"At what range"
"About  a meter"
"How could you see him if you were both in a dive"
"We were (with a hand motion) inverted"-Maverick from Top Gun

The AFC championship is a day game and will be over by the time we get to HI. We can watch the NFC game between the Saints and the Minnesota Favre's at 6:40pm.

Secondly, there is no indoor pool in the Holiday Inn. We park the sleds around the outdoor one.

There is a pool and a jacuzzi in Roberval.

I've been mapping out those routes on duel monitors while I'm supposed to be working.  I came up with something very similar to what you stated.

I think we were planning on waiting to talk to Seg Bill and get some local trail and lodging information before calling Passion.

Anyone have any thoughts on #5's route and whether we should pre book passion?

I have correlated the 2006 and 2007 loops that were posted by #2 (I just want to go on the record and say that the two greatest things brought to this club are the communicators and this gps/map downloading of our past trips!  Kudos to #10 and #2 for such innovation and forward thinking) to the Quebec trail map and we can infer where Passion is.  We can also see how we got off the yellow trail that loops up to Lac Vermont and over.  If groomed we should really try to get this trail done if possible.

Here is what I am suggesting as a preliminary plan (dependent on trail reports/conditions when we get there of course):
1st night - arrive at HI and have a few while gathering info and watching AFC Championship game
1st ride - ride north and east into Monts Valins Est
2nd night - stay at Passion (I am happy to call today or tomorrow and check for availability)
2nd ride - ride Monts Valins Ouest
3rd night - stay at Passion
3rd ride - ride around Lac St. Jean (anti-clockwise)
4th night - pick a place along the trail around lake.  Maybe St. Felicien or Roberval
4th ride - ride trails back to HI
5th night - stay at HI, swim, taste ales and lagers, tell tales, laugh, eat and sleep.

Then can book Passion two nights and leave one night open if someplace is recommended we can try it.  Just some ideas.

I vote Passion and that the group have races up and down the ski mountain again.  No gloves or hat is the best for this event.

Don't worry about buying Beer ahead of time, #5 will get some from the locals.

Enjoy boys!   Stay & Ride Safe!   Wish I was there with ya!

We will be riding in and around Lac St Jean. We are staying in Jonquiere. The Monts Valin are a mountain range north and east of the Lake. These mountains and high elevation present the best riding around.

I would suspect we will ride in the mountains for 2 days and around the lake 1 day and figure out what we want to do on the last day.  This still needs to be discussed.

We only have reservations for the first and last day at the Holiday Inn in Jonquiere. I figure that we would stay and any combination of the HI and Roberval, Passion, Alma, Chicitoumi, Sacre Cour etc..

I prefer the places with all in one (hotel, dinner and breakfast) specials.

Check mapquest to:

2675 Boulevard Du Royame
Jonquiere, Quebec

Hope this helps.

What time are we meeting at #5's place Sunday?  I've never traveled to where we are headed so send me some town names and routes so I can check out the area map.  What time are we leaving on the 29th?  I take it this is the area we are riding in:

http://www.viaexplora.com/snowmobile/quebec/trail-map.html

With these maps, you can interactively route our loops, and figure mileage and length of time.

It is supposed to snow every day that we are in Jonquiere. If you have any waterproofing spray, put it all over your pants, gloves and jacket.

Anybody check out any other hotels or cabins for availability?

Oftly quiet out there....

I'm getting a little nervous. This was about the time where a couple dropped out last year.

5 short days till we are in the great white north.

We have reservations for 3 non smoking rooms with 2 double beds at the Holiday Inn on Jan 24th and Jan 28th.  The rooms are $70 per person per night. No meals are included. Our reservation numbers are 66053123 and 66050207.

We are trying to stay at Passion ski resort at least one night. We are not bringing food. We are bringing saddlbags.  Bring your blue plastic tub with all your riding gear. We have no other reservations.

Don't forget your passport, trail pass, communicator, chargers etc.

I'm leaving my truck at #5's place. You should call him to work out your situation.

If anyone has an issue with any of these things, you should call me. There's no issue that can't be worked out. Call my cell anytime.

Can someone post the latest trip details?  Are we not bringing saddlebags and just staying at 1 place and doing loops?  Are we bringing food now?  What time are we meeting and leaving?  Let me know so I can prepare!
