That trip to Caribou was a good time. It's worth looking into again and possibly on short notice.
A trip to Yellowstone (I estimate at approx. $2500 likely way more) would have to be very well planned out. Flights (doubt they fly direct), Rental sled, Hotel, Spending $, Luggage limitations, never riding the terrain before, not knowing the area. Wildlife??? Gas stops? Repairs, Avalanches.
Reality Check: Think of how many people drop out of Quebec trips every year.
My friends Stick and Sarah have a place in Bridgeton, ME and are always asking me to go there. He just bought a late model Polaris with the funny trunk. I'm thinking that registering and riding in Maine is very likely for the upcoming season.
I've never missed a trip and don't have any plans to. I'll always go where WPR goes.
#10 and #5 will want to ride their new long tracks in bumpy Maine anyhow.
#7, me being late is your number 1 memory of a trip from 7+ years ago? Thanks.
My memory of that trip is limping the ZR-580 back home with the help of #27. And missing the trip to the Allagash. I will NEVER buy another Suzuki engine because of it.
My sled is so old now, that a fly away trip (and machine rental) is looking more and more appealing to me! Let's just go somewhere that rain is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
You just picked both the most and least expensive trips at the same time.
Ever since I read that American Snowmobiler article on Aroostock county, it's made me reflect on that first snowmobiling trip I ever took with WPR.
Memorable moments from that trip:
#5 2 hours late for the meeting spot. #3 telling me to get on his brand new 2001 XC-I was blown away. Riding down the hill overlooking downtown Fort Kent Driving to the restaurant, drinking a beer and figuring out we were at the wrong eatery. Trying desperately to keep up on day 1. Having no problems keeping up on day 3. Riding under a bridge on the Allagash when it didn't exactly look safe.
If we went back there, I'm thinking a 4lb lobster is on the menu one night.
Wow only 189 days until the season begins. We need to start thinking about the first meeting.
Get your presentations together. Think outside the box. A glossy coversheet really garners interest.
What region got the most snow?
Is this the year we go back to Aroostock County? St Zenon? South of the River-Thedford Mines? Out west? The Gaspe'? Cote Norde? La Tuque? Chicitoumi? How about Vermont?
