I did catch that. It sounded as if everyone racing that particular ace was handicapped in some way. There were at least two riders that had prosthetics plus Henry. They were moving pretty good. They would not let them do the big 120 foot jump.
Did anyone see the snowmobile track races at the X-Games? They show repeats on ESPN2 in the mornings.
I don't know if it was some kind of special event race or something, but they started the race and they made their big jumps and big turns like they normally do. Then some guy with a prosthetic leg got side swiped by Doug Henry who is paralyzed??? but still races snowmobiles. He knocked the guy's metal leg off and flipped his sled. The one legged due picked up his special non factory leg and some guys helped him flip his sled back over. They he brought his leg over to his crew to put it back on. They rolled up his snow pants and strapped the sucker back on. He then got back into the race about a lap behind.
As the announcer is giving the play by play, I thought he was kidding. I could not believe my eyes. When did the X-Games become Jackass gone wild?
Television viewing at it's best last Tuesday morning.
Ok, update: I couldn't wait so I watched the Brno race I have recorded and it must be a different series. I am watching the FIA GT1 World Championship Series. There is no yellow Lamborghini and no crash at the Brno race.
btw, #2, not sure if you are watching these races on SPEED, but it is really good racing with many recognizable driver lineups including several recent F1 drivers (i.e. Grossian, Enge)
And the mfg lineup is very cool. 6 mfrs: Aston Martin (DB9), Ford (GT), Lamborghini (Murlago), Maserati (MC12), Nissan (GT-R) and Corvette. 2 race format qualifying race on Sat (awarding points to 1-3 only) and then race on Sun awarding full points.
They are racing on some known circuits (i.e. Interlagos, Nurburgring, Silverstone) and other lesser known tracks and a street circuit in S. America.
The images are so upsetting. Seems crazy. So much attention is paid to safety, for a driver that cannot be extracted from a burning racecar, just seems improbable.
I remember watching when they couldn't get Simona De Silvestro out of her IRL car and the fire grew and grew. She was burned on the arm, but not like this.
I couldn't believe how the fuel kept relighting even with all the foam on it. Perforated fuel cells are deadly. And why can't fire retardant clad safety workers not approach the driver ****pit with all the hoses aimed at it.
So many questions, no driver deserves to be in that situation. Very very upsetting. It honestly didn't even look like that great of an impact. When you think that these are production based cars, that's scary.
I have all these races recorded. I just watch the 2nd race (Silverstone) last night, I think this is the 3rd race. Now I know what happens. Thanks for the warning.
