Yes, it is quite disappointing indeed. #10, you recall correctly, remember when we took it for a test drive and there was no detectable braking by the trailer. We told the owner and I believe we had $200 taken off the price.
I purchased and installed two brand new brake assemblies. #3 reported that they had rusted away to nothing. Evidently, this will be a recurring issue with this trailer. Keep in mind, this trailer was originally equipped with surge brakes, these electric brakes were added by the original owner. Maybe we should have gone to the next size up brake. Next time.
Great job #3! Let me know what portion I owe for the repairs. Also, #5 am I mistaken in thinking we already did these brakes when first purchasing the trailer? There was something about the brakes but I can't recall.

Good news. The 4 place has been repaired. All of the lights are now working properly. All four tie-downs have an accepting nut in the correct mounting position which has been treated with never seize. All four tires were removed and the bearings were repacked with grease. The tire studs were also treated with never seize. Two new tires have been purchased, mounted and installed. New brakes were required. The old brakes rusted away. Unfortunately, I can not test them due to the fact that I do not have the brain mounted in my car. Does any one want to take it for a test drive?
DATELINE: Townsend (how come in VT there is an h in this town's name but not in Mass? Are they an h better than you? I would submit a petition to have an h added to your town's name so they won't have this over you. Is the proper spelling Marlboro or Marlborough?)
In an unexpected call today, #3 reports major repair work underway on the 4-place. It all seems like typical degredation but man, hasn't this trailer seen only 4 trips north and a couple dirt bike trips? Worn out tires and brakes, broken lights and welds. Sheesh.
In any event, I would like to thank #3 for his leadership in making sure the 4-place will be ready for the trip this year. The last thing I want is to skimp and be on the wet, dirty, dangerous side of the freeway, maybe at night, trying to jury-rig something to get our machines there and/or back.
As treasurer, I be sure no common club monies are used for these repairs as this is a private enterprise. Ok, I just checked, there is no danger of the misuse of club funds, as there are none. Just for precaution, a watchdog group will be assembled to look into this latest news.
Thanks #3 for taking the lead on this year's trailer prep.
