RE: Cabins

Spoke with #7.  I like the cabins with the internet connection originally presented.  That is more of a requirement for me now than a nice to have before this week at work.

I am ready to book it at our meeting or conference call on Monday Feb 28.

I found another place in Portage in case we want to start further north than Patten or Millinocket.  Take a look and let me if you have any thoughts.

We leave two weeks from today.  Time to start talking.

We will have plenty of beer. Don't worry there.

I suggest #5 bring his own laptop for work, if you need a protective travel bag, I have one that you can use.

I think if I have to sit in the back seat of #5's truck, we are one sneeze away from sending a front seater through the windsheild.  I've volunteered to take my truck with or without a tailer, it doesn't matter. If we have either 5 or 6 travelers, it will still work out ok.  7 presents a challenge.  I have a very small bed in my truck.  I will check out the dimensions this weekend in the event that a "last resort" situation presents itself.

I used my credit card last year and in several other years. I would prefer not to use it this year.  Go ahead and book it if there is a friendly cancellation policy.

Happy Birthday #5

Here's another option:  http://www.baxterparkinn.com/onlinebooking.htm

It's a hotel in the town of Millinocket with everything we could possibly need at a steeper but not unreasonable price.

It's worth a look and our consideration.

Well done #2, it looks great.  The only thing that we must be careful of, because I know a bunch of you are homophobes, is I noticed there is a lot of "full" and "queen" beds, they will consider this sleeping for 2 people so if we each want our own bed we may need to get the cabin that sleeps 10.  Maybe #7 confirmed we each get our own bed already?

Also, I am hoping we will get a cabin with a kitchen.

I like the internet also for responding to work emergencies in the evenings.  That will help my cause (my boss will still be out on maternity leave and she is tentative we will both be out that week).  This would ease her mind and solidify my ability to go.

I love the rec room and hot tub options.  Let's make sure they have (or we bring) a dvd player so we can watch movies/races/etc if we want.  Let's bring cards and lots and lots of beer.  I am glad we are going back to this type of trip this year.  It will be a lot of fun.  Again, not a long drive so I can tow and someone can drive a chase vehicle if they want more leg room.

#7, did you happen to ask about how we could do regs in advance?  If we call with a credit card can they get them done in advance for us and we pick them up Sunday when we arrive?  That would be great.  If not, I could call and ask this question.  Let me know.

Finally, I know #7 noted it was not his turn to put reservation on his card again (did you get burned by that #7?  If so, let me know if I caused any cost to you and I will certainly pay up).  If the deposit is relative by how many people staying once we have a final count, and people have signed my simple agreement form, I am happy to put it on my card.  If it's a straight amount, and a core group is committed to the trip, I'll go ahead and book it today.

Speaking of today, with me a happy birthday.

Again, much thanks to the #2+#7 bros!!!!!

#5  PSYCHED!

#2's find is CAMP WAPITI. It is in Patten, ME-North East of Millinocket. They have availibility and we could all stay in one cabin. I told the lady 6 people and she quoted $1,066 or $178 per person from Sunday to Friday morning.  There was an optional breakfast and dinner plan as well.
