I did catch it. My dvd recording did not stay with it on Sunday due to the rain delay. Thank all that is good for Speed TV.
What a race is right! It makes the idea of installing sprinklers around the circuits seem just a tad less absurd. Although that idea is still absurd.
Michael "rainmeister" Schuey driving past people like he was in a boat - until his tires gave up on him. Vettel making the slightest of errors to give up the point. Webber once again proving he is the next best driver in the best car. Jensen smooth as a double mash whiskey burbon on rocks - cool as the midsummer melt water from a rocky mountain peak. Kobayashi, well, no need to go too far for a metaphor there, he IS a kamakazi pilot. Period.
I was telling the boys it was a good decision not to go back to Montreal this year. It was a much better race to see on television. And it would have been a long late night coming home.
But what about next year? I was thinking, we went to Indianapolis in year 2 of the US Grand Prix. What if we made a plan to go to Austin in 2013? To the Circuit of the Americas. Watch it on TV next year and let them work out the bugs for a perfect year 2 again. Tuck that into the back of your mind anyway.
The best part about watching the race was listening to how genuinely exciting David and Steve were. Like two kids giddy with the thrill. Excellent.
