There has been only one response on this topic. The Pres has offered his axle to the 4-place trailer, it's only known issue is that is burns out tires.
I'd like to plan a 4-place trailer work day. I am out of school for the next 4 weeks so I am gung-ho to spend some quality time and get some grease under my fingernails! Where is the trailer now?
I can pick up the axle and bring it to the trailer. Once we determine that the 4-place is road worthy, I will submit the registration. I'll start another post to get a conversation going about trip dates.
If you are part of the 4-place owner consortium, please chime in. We have opinions noted from #5 and #10 on the record - save the trailer and fix it. What say you?
Although the 4-place has been useful a few times and not a lage investment in it, so could simply keep it. I am surprized how much repairs have been necessary however, so second guessing.
If it helps for the long-term storage I do have a PAVED spot to keep it, rather than on the ground where moisture builds up and rots everything out.

It's November, so in Mass, that's trailer reg nenewal time.
Am I renewing the 4-place reg? $60
I vote that we replace the axle, both if necessary. The cost per axle is approximately $375 if memory serves. The brakes were purchased new last year, but depending how much wood was hauled on it, I don't think they should have much wear on them. If we have 4 owners that would be $100 each. If both need replacing then double it.
My thinking is, even if we decide to sell it - which now would be the time to list it, it's worth nothing if we don't make it road worthy. Fixed with new axles and brakes we can try to get our money back, it's a nice trailer.
Personally, I'd like to keep the trailer in the club. It has come in as useful and we have a place to store it. I may even have a need for 3 places in the next couple years.
So, do we want to fix 'er up? Let me know and I will renew. If not, let's decide to sell or put into long term storage and I won't renew.
#7, thank you for all the trailer leads. I would like to announce to the club, and to calm #2's fears, I have purchased #1776's enclosed trailer. I just need to xfer the plate, then I am mobile once more.
Have been able to collect from one other member, #5. Thank you.
Additional trailer mods required and added 1/10/2012. Need 4 rims due to the fact that all four rotted away. I selected the galvinized versions. All tires and rims are now in new condition. It would be nice to put some miles on it.
Dateline: PRINCETON (you know, the place so desirable people are just DYING to live here - or NOT LIVE here I guess would be more accurate). I have submitted info+pictures of the comprehensive failure of the LoadRite trailer to the local dealer.
He says he has never seen that before and is also interested in what LoadRite has to say about it. Who knows, maybe they will throw me a bone and pro-rate a credit toward a new trailer for me. It doesn't hurt to ask right?!
Between the 4-place (which we didn't use this year) and my 2-place (which broke in half in its stead this year), these snowmobile trailers are the most expensive part of the sport for me. That's not right.
The owners of the 4-place know who they are: #'s 3, 5, 10, 13. I do not recall a fifth owner. Please make a motion if this is in dispute.
The weld job on it last year was $60 (to reconnect the hold down nut bar on the rear left side).
For those of you that are invested in the four place trailer, I have totaled the bills from this past winters brake and tire repair. Please review the attached (Hopefully) receipts. The total for the brakes was $376.98. The two tires cost an additional $155.69. The total bill is $532.67.
Please make all inquiries to the club's treasurer as to how much you owe. These bills have been paid and Hazel needs a new set of shoes.
