I've taken day trips to the Vineyard the last two summers. I rent a car, go to all the towns, hang out at the beach, visit the lighthouses, eat lunch overlooking the harbour and the ferry to Chappaquittick Island. It's one hell of a day with the kids.
You know, a while back my parents were invited to a friend's daughters wedding out on Nantucket. I have to admit, I would jump at the chance to attend an event on that island, or any other island for that matter. An opportunity to take the girl, put on the khaki's and blue blazer and mingle with the other half.
Last year we spent some time in Newport, sipping gin in fancy hotel listening to jazz, even went for a sail, and it felt so good. I could easily slip into that lifestyle and stay there the rest of my days. <sigh>
Maybe #4 is still basking in the glow of this year's Stanley Cup Finals...
Clearly you don't get that #4 doesn't work in July or August. He's very European in his "holiday" schedule, and asking him to put down his Bud Light is akin to asking him to cut off his right arm.
While wandering about on Boston.com, I came across a link to a presitgious Antique show on Nantucket. While checking out the site, I did NOT notice my favorite dealer's collection among the dealer listings. I'm puzzled.
This is an excellent opportunity for the to load up the "Whaler" from bow to stern with time pieces and buzz on over to the island and crash that party.
#4, put down the Bud Light, dust off the khaki pants & blue blazer and get on over there.
