I just had to replace the fuel line in my chainsaw and brush cutter. #1776 had to replace the fuel pick up line on his sled, the line split in two and was sitting on the bottom of the tank. When we pulled it out, it literally melted in our hands when you touched it.
This is f-ing ridiculous - legislators have a complete ineptitude and disregard in their decision making. The manufacturers have told them this will happen, but they show no regard for the public that they serve. Even though the ethanol is there in order to supposedly help the environment (which is still debatable) and reduce our reliance on foreign oil (we have plenty of oil here domestically) it should have been mandated to include the necessary additives to stabilize the fuel we buy. I know this how come they don't. There can only be two reasons: 1) they are lazy and not doing their job or 2) they do know it but don't care. Either way is unacceptable.
And their next step? Increase ethanol content to 15%. Nice job a-holes. So we bear the expense of adding things like fitch catalysts and startron products to save the engines we use every day.
the new fuel is a "killer" on engines. the more e in the gas means more moisture problems when sitting for long periods of time. poor yammi was run then left to sit while the newer steed got all the attention...repeating this time and time again attacked the little 2 banger and the long sit over the summer finished it off.
hope everyone is using fitch fuel catylsts and startron products!
I Rode the the Ducati ignited Skidoo around the house today...you can see the video on the wpr youtube channel if your interested.
The Yamaha is now up and the disturbing discovery is most of the brearing are rusted on the inside of the motor. When i say rusted, i mean Rusted solid. Now i am in search of a used Crank, pistons, wrist pins/bearing, gasket kit, and an oil pump or maybee a donor sled. Any Leads would be helpful (97 or 98 Vmax xtc xt sx MM or Venture)
Strangest thing i have ever seen, i cannont even undestand how this could of happened. i must have an enemy.
# 5 i would love to help with 23 Yamaha, I still need to fix E old sled, my other Skidoo just little stuff to get redy for the season, and # 3 Sno scoot.

I took my Poalris 120 over to Philbricks in Westford and traded it in towards a 550 fan with low miles last year. They gave me a good price for the 120 and the 550 I bought (cash is king). It wasn't that painful and it was a good move on my part. The 550 was a much better decision than getting a 340. My son will ride this for many years to come.
Prez, when you're done with that Yamaha, can you take a shot at #23's Yamaha? I am stumped. Have fuel, have spark, yet the thing is dead as a door nail. Carb is cleaned to a whistle, air box/foam good.
I get a single small pop every 10 or so kicks. I bought a compression tester, needed to go back to the store b/c this thing has a 10mm spark plug thread and needed the kit with the adapters down to this size.
The only notable condition is the last time it ran I saw tons of oil pouring out the overflow tube. Have no idea if this has caused something with starting the engine now. MSI says should not be related. Yamaha manual has no troubleshooting section on engine not starting. Valve clearance inspection/adjustment procedure is 10 pages long and looks more complex than open heart surgery so I am not going to even attempt that.
#19 says he is not putting a dollar into it so I am not sure what to do except give it back to him. He bought a new mountain bike. I tried...
#5, happy 2-stroke owner
#1776 has given up on the 800 as well, our periphery members are fed up with their equipment and not interested in putting in an effort or dropping them off at dealerships to fix. Hmm.
Wow! I go away for a few days and what do I hear....
What is this ... WPR comes to an end on 11-11-11.
So sad....
The manufacturers are killing their own sport. I so want a new piece of equipment too, but back a few short years ago I forked over 7,300 for my lovely triple that has done me very well, and now in current times I am looking at very close to double that amount to feel the new skin beneath my legs. I don't know too many products that have doubled in price over such a short period of time.

Well, while challenging my memory against the Prez's is not something I can really do, so I can't say I didn't say something like that with a lot of confidence. But reading it I can tell you the idea I meant to convey with a statement like that.
With no trailer to haul my sled, and no 3/4 sled for #19 and where #43 has to stand up for the Mini Z to get started and then sit down to ride, it is clear that my family's options for riding this year are somewhat limited.
I will recant what I said and replace it with this: Me and my mini-members will get out as much as possible this year given our ride/transport restraints.
Is that better? I am just as much into the sport, just a tough year is all, but I guess that's where my passion for the sport will really have to shine. I have also made a very good connection for local riding. He may also be able to help to get #1776's sled in order.
It was nothing, just that I'm not buying a new trailer this year. No big.
That sucks Pres! This is a classic example of the roll of the dice that comes with older vehicles, namely, when to cut and move on. This right after you decide to go for the new oil pump. The Yamaha has hedged your bet and called you. So now, will you be in the same boat as #388 and myself? Will you buy a new machine to keep the whole family out there this year?? Just remember, there is no wrong choice.
Sorry to hear the news #388, it is a tough year for sure. But it wouldn't be the web page if I didn't use this opportunity to point out the irony of your post, that is, that you will "buy a new sled next year". hahahahaha
I know our sled purchasing histories are not the same but still, you have to admit, that is pretty ironic and funny!
We'll come back strong in future years fellow member!!
