We will get the two crews together soon for some skiing (how about the #5's too). We can do a day trip somewhere. Let me know if you find any bargains/discounts/coupons etc.
Trivia-who wrote these timeless lyrics?
Art takes time, time is money, money is scarce and that ain't funny
Please keep in mind the 7's have 3 beginners and 1 Bode Miller level skier.
Pray for snow. I don't like that the mountains are currently 25% to 75% open. It should be 90% or better.
This is a good non-snow machine post. I'd like to chime in. First I'd like to welcome #7 and family back to the sport of his childhood. I would bet that Wa-Wa is closer than "The Crotch" to your home. While I'm not going to say there are "no" lines at Wachusett, you should know that now there is a high speed detachable quad on the beginner slope (Monadnock lift) making the trip up in 2 minutes. This is an enormous improvement over the old 12 minute trip of the old lift.
The lines may look large but honestly in my experience (and I have much of it at this mountain) you will not wait more than 1-4 minutes, then it is a quick 5 minutes up the mtn.
The Wachusett Ski School teaches the A.T.S. (American Teaching System) method of learning to ski (levels 1-9) and is rated amoung the top ski schools in the U.S. Wachusett is not a "destination" ski area, it's recognized core function is to serve as a "learning and practice" mountain to prepare people for upcoming trips. I have instructed many people who are learning to ski or getting tuned up for an up coming trip to north or west or international resorts. It's pretty cool.
Most importantly, Hot Dog the movie is the best ski movie of all time. It is a swan song to a life I never lived but coveted to endeavor. I bought it for myself to have and to hold.
No racing for me until they put padding on the trees.
"The Crotch" was pretty good. My gang needs to move up from the Green trails to the Blue trails to get a little more exciting. Still they've only skied 3 times now.
Fun day all around. Too bad I missed the hard core skiing #13 and family.
Nice to get to a mountain with no lines only 77 miles from home. I was off the slope at 3:30pm, and home with a couple of stops by 5:30pm.
The wife and kids could use a lesson or two from #5
The "Crotch" is in very good early season shape for you 2-plankers or knuckle draggers in the club. Once jr. member 13.2 remembered how to ski we had a great day (the first run was painful, after that no issues). As usual there were no lines and the place although a little icy in spots was in great shape. Wasn't able to hook up with #7 (he went early, we went late) but a great spot for a late season WPR event). How about everyone throw in a twenty and first one to the bottom of the hill wins??
I'm headed to "The Crotch" with the family (the other 7's) on Monday if anyone is interested in joining. We will be there from 9am-4pm. There are a lot of trails open and all 5 lifts going.
It could be the first ever WPR chairlift meeting.
Why "The Crotch"? Simple-because I won a free lift ticket there at the SKI SHOW last month due to one single precise dart throw.
