Yes, this Class C / OSY racer is driven from a kneeling position. Seats weigh too much.
This does have a steering wheel. In fact it is padded. The cables are exposed as is the wrap around the wheel pulley. It is very simple and effective.
The motor is a Yamato 302. Very interesting history to this type of racing. The motor are sold in this country by an importer and are used. They are manufactuered in Japan and used for match racing much like our dog or horse racing circuits. Yamatos do not have covers. The gas tanks are on top next to the flywheel. They are very dependable making approximately 33 HP.
This very boat took a first and a couple of top three finishes last year. Built in CT by Mike Schmitt and his brother Eric. It has a composite bottom and a plywood top structure.
I have more answers if you have any additional questions?
Are you on your knees? Don't you get a seat with the boat? Are you tugging on cables to steer it? Why is the cover off the motor, were you just working on it before the race?
