Love the trail ride planning being fired up on the site. I stopped receiving Quebec maps since I've stopped registering a few years back. But I still have my old ones. The trails are probably good but the info might be dated.
I like those options, I had heard a lot about Thetford Mines but I also heard it is a very high theft area (maybe they should be called Theiford Mines. haha. get it?!) Ahem. Should be fine for a day ride, just off it for lunch. Even still, after all the luggage I saw bolted onto #2's sled, I am fine with packing some chicken and apples. ;)
I will bust out my old maps, we will be departing from Jackman correct? I think there's just the one trail in, but then probably breaks at the warming hut. I am getting stoked. Will want a shakedown ride before this trip. btw, we should start a new thread called Canada Trip - just so we can have a post that says Canada Trip again!!!!!!
Pes, thanks for hosting. It has been some time since you have taken that torch. Those that attended can easily see that you have not forgotten the formula for success.
I had a good time as well. The food was good, the air was crisp and the company was outstanding.
I spent an hour looking at my 2015 Quebec maps. I was looking at routes to take as there are several destinations and directions we can go. Thedford Mines is easily reachable, so is Lac Echimen and Sainte Georges. My map shows the distances, gas stops, restaurants and hotels. Assuming a 130 mile to 220 mile days we can reach a bunch of spots.
This should be an exciting little trip and a long overdue rebirth of the annual trips.
Thank you to #2 for hosting a Traditional WPR meeting. Dressed in the clothes we work on 'em in. No pretense. Good grilled food. Cold beer at cost. Good tunes. Outside in the cold air next to a ripping fire, and then poking and prodding on a new machine on an elevated stand.
Perfect meeting. Old school. Love it.
Well done Prez, for taking us back to when it was real. We needed that.
#5
ps> I will gracefully bow out of the running for Most Improved as #10 showed up and stayed the distance.
pps> I need a new sled if I'm ever gonna win anything........... :(
Please inform me of the final destination for Friday night. What exactly is happening in #2's garage? Or has the venue been changed to Bang Sheep Tavern?
Hey, for the club, not trying to influence or change the chosen meeting place. Especially if we will be turning wrenches on a machine.
I just got an email from my cuz's (Mike) band Neon Alley, they are playing at the Black Sheep Tavern in Sterling this Friday, Dec 4. They are a 3 piece classic rock cover band. They typically play some deep cuts by Led Zepplin and for contrast some really classic 80's and 90's pop tunes you will be surprised to hear being performed live still. I guarantee at some point you will say "I never thought I would hear this song again".
They sometimes stump me with what band did the song, last time I didn't get Steelers Wheel who did Stuck in the Middle With You. I should've got that one.
Just an option if we're interested. I know they do good pizza there. The majority of patrons are generally our age. They have Bud Light.
Sorry I didn't check the site over the break. I am good for this Friday evening. In fact, turns out I will be in Houston on the 3rd so this move works out well for me.
Thank you! Let's see, I think I remember how to get to the Prez's garage. Please have your cell phones on and charged so I can call if I get lost again.
Do we want to make this a pot luck? There are food choices between my house and the meeting, leave room for a possible treat.
Thanks for posting that Pink video #2, I certainly don't give these artists enough credit for their talent, generally because I don't care for the pop style they become famous on because it doesn't showcase it. This chick's got major vocal skill, no doubt, except for the gaff at 2:30 in, she does the Joplin classic true justice - gorgeous vocal quality and tone accuracy. Well played.
You can even see she is quite a pretty lady without all the awful makeup and ridiculous clothes.
We are moving off meeting number 2 with an uncharacteristic amount of progress. What a great feeling. Can you believe 10 showed? Now we need a few others to get involved. Lets start slow. If you can't make it, how about calling in?
