With plenty of snow on the ground and a day off I brushed off the xf and fired her up...I did 1.4 miles of laps around my yard and put her on a stand to start working on a few things.
I greased the skid, checked my bogie wheels and reset the shock pressures...the previous owner was way off. It also looks like he cranked up the front shocks too much so I'm trying to find the stock base line as this can be detrimental to a sleds handling. If I recall, I want it as loose as possible without the retaining collar loosening up?
Anyway, I added a small handlebar bag and a tunnel bag, tools, new fox float air pump. I'm awaiting on a 4th wheel kit because ive read these 2 wheeled /tried hub setups are bad when you lose just 1 wheel...you can't limp home. I also ordered new relays to avoid any frozen issues and non starting problems...did occur on my Apex once!
At 5 pm I got a call from my neighbor and club groomer that they were going to start clearing any downed trees and groom the trail that I will be using close to my house. I had already used a saw weeks ago with the quad but now we we're on sleds. He let me use his arcticat 900 while he rode an Indy 500 and the scandic pulled a small early season drag....100 yards out of neighbors driveway he lit up the road and crashed into an oak tree...he held on till the end then bailed...I asked if this is how the start every ride jokingly and we pulled the sled out of the ditch...a little damagr to left front...more pride than anything. He was running no carbides on the beater so he wasnt steering well on the road...oops!
Back onto the trail we cleared snow snow ladened trees with the grooming sled following. We went about 10 miles and they showed me some connector trails. I'm pumped to start riding up here. Next weekend is a club BBQ and the trails are in good shape already. With the up and coming storm this weekend, we'll be in great shape. Taking a ride around sunapee Saturday in the vehicle, I saw all the trails ridden and groomed.
Highlights of tonight we getting a speed run in on the big 2 stroke, learning new trails and smelling premix on my jacket! 388
