Glad to hear it was an easy fix! Any issues with your left spindle on the rush from my inadequate trailer loading fiasco? Let me know if I need to fund any repairs. I went to replace the belt that fried last year at a whopping $160...wtf!
Last night I unloaded the 2 sleds from the trailer to do a once over on them before any riding starts. Good thing. A rip around the yard on the SB got me giddy inside, no issues visible. However...
When I started forward on the XC, thump thump thump. the noise was cadence with each rotation of the jackshaft so I could tell it was drivetrain related. Limped it around the yard and into the garage. Checked the belt and immediately found it was broken. Can you imagine?? Thing probably has 5 seasons on it. Maybe more.
The kiss of death was not the miles it has seen, just the opposite I suspect. I noticed the belt had a very very tight radius set into it from sitting (I'm sure around the primary) and then the crack was immediately next to it. My suspicion is that the belt sits in one position all off season and molds into that shape. When I went to go and put a load on it, the "straighten out" of the belt under strain just tore it on the inside right at one of the cogs.
So this is a public announcement to the club members, that following the off season storage recommendations in the manual to remove the belt from the machine in the off season is probably a good idea.
