I rode up there today fro. the homestead...177 miles . Ride report to follow. I'm learning how to download the polaris ride command...its working very well.
Good report Sarge, I have unfinished business to ride in the Lyme area again. My last experience was pitiful, the snow wasn't there, but I pushed the issue. It was a loss. I know there are good trails around there, history proves that.
After our 1st significant snowfall of the season colliding with a planned mini vacation in North Conway, I was biting at the bit to ride. Traveling to and from the whites, I passed many familiar groomed trails loaded with riders.
After clearing my connector trail yesterday, today would be my 1st ride out and my buddy Richard was excited to join in. he arrived ahead of schedule and we departed the homestead by 8:30am. We planned to be back around 1pm which made for a short day. Trying to decide on a short loop here takes some thinking...we lost a connecting trail across rt10 that allowed an easier shortcut to the homestead.
We took followed some tracks to the dead ended trail hoping it might have been reopened but to no avail...backtracking and headed south down to Marlow then into unity. All trails we well used from the weekend but still in decent shape considering. The further west we went I had a feeling the trails may get thinner and they did...nothing bare but thinner. We started to loop over towards acworth general store then continued on 5n all the way into Newports rail trail and covered bridges. Once in newport we visited the ski jump again the made our way towards Sunapee for a quick blip of gas. We were now doing the big loop around through goshen, Pillsbury state park and eventually into lempster. It's frustrating to see the trail that would save 45min be closed, but it does offer more riding!
I heard Pillsbury was beat up from the weekend and it was...but a far cry from being aweful. I've ridden in much worse conditions. 7 out of 10. I really wanted to ride more in Sunapee but time wasn't on our side. We made it through the Lempster trail back on to the right side of the road. We got back on time and logged our 1st 82 miles for the season. Conditions after the weekend were a6-7 out of 10...very pleased.
Tomorrow I'll head out solo and venture into the Sunapee area more and maybe hit, Warren, Alexandria, and Northern areas. Wednesday I may try going to Lyme and back. Sarge 388
