I suggest we pre book reservations for hotels for the whole trip. Our trip will be during the tail end of the Gaspe's prime season. It looks like there are fewer places to stay on Gaspe than in previous trips' locations. Also, the hotels appear smaller. If we are well prepared, we will have a lot less to worry about when problems do arise. Please keep in mind that the group is 8 deep. Finding 4 rooms will not be an easy task on one or two day's notice. Let's be prepared.
13, this was what I was coming up with as well for mileage...IF we leave from Rimouski, which is a farther drive then Rivere-Du-loop. Go to Hardcore sledder forums under quebec. I asked about trails 595 and 597 and one of the guys who grooms posted some pics.
route proposal: How about something like this...Day 1 - Rimouski to St Anne, 164 miles. Day 2 - St Anne to Gaspe, 250 miles. Day 3 -Gaspe to New Richmond, 203 miles. Day 4 -New Richmond to 595N to 5 S to Rimouski 240 miles. Total miles 857. Thoughts?? Does anyone know if 597 is a "must see" trail. 13
I started to route some Gaspe runs last night and mistakenly started us off from Rimouski. We could actually do the entire loop or half the loop and interior with 200+ mile days at a comfortable pace. I realized it was leaving out of Rimouski instead of Rivere-Du-loop which would then push our mileage up closer to the 300's per day. RDL in 200km or 124 miles from Rimouski which adds 250-300 miles round trip to the equation. It is approximately a 10hr drive to RDL. Should we go the extra distance to Rimouski? Let me know before I start to give suggestions for routes and stops.
