Thought I'd share some pics from our first trip to Gaspe, we left our trucks at the Riotel in Matane and took the TQ5 all the way around back to Matane. I was worried about the TQ5 being rough from other reports but we found it to be a 8-9 of 10 the whole way. We had stops in Mont St. Pierre, Perce and Carlton. Or mileage was just under 900 miles as we went down and met groomer on Wed before we started our loop. There is a ton of snow there and the scenery was unbeleivable! Will definatly be back for sure! The sunrise at Perce was quite amazing to say the least!
Why not make it a pre-ride evening at #5's house...a few beers, everybody bring a sled video and we lay our heads on the coach. I took a drive over to #5 home today in order to check out the trailer height. We confirmed it should be fine. I hope you guys by #5 some chow on the trip, he's hard at work getting that trailer in shape! I watch him for an hour wrestle the brake drum off of 1 side. The trailer is in good hands.
I know the Prez has been warned of my thinking, but I see no reason to drive 1 hour East to meet up at the riverside with the other 4 members. We (#388,5,7,10) our meeting in Princeton. If we head up thru Keene to 91, we can meet at the 89 or 91 intersection.
I guess it's pointless to bitch about the wakeup time on Saturday. If I am to arrive at 3:45, then I have to wake up at.....ouch. I'm bringing a small pillow for the truck.
I will be leaving my car and trailer at #5's place.
I guess we have to stop the banter on #388 since in this case, snowmobiling does always trump out meetings that talk about snowmobiling. and being in New Orleans is also an acceptable excuse... EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS THE FINAL MEETING BEFORE THE TRIP!!
Thanks to everyone who was able to make it, again, this one ranks up there in the top 5 meetings I would say, well, at least it did for me. Putting the final touches on the trip which is only 1 week away and getting to jam a little bit will always make a top 5 for me.
#388, the critical detail that you missed was only this. Please load your sled into the back of your truck and come to my house at 3:45am on Sat Mar 8. Please make sure you have your brake controller installed. Confirm that you have a 7-pin round connector and a 2" ball. By the way, I remember #10's trailer being at a mean angle when his trailer was hooked up to your truck from our ride up north. Is there any way you can put that ball as close to 17" off the ground as possible. The thing is the 4-place is a dual axle, so by lifting the front of the trailer from level will start to put a big tongue weight on your truck and well as lift the front axle, which has the brakes in it, off the ground. They sell drop hitches of various heights.
#5, #10, #7 and #3 should be loaded on the trailer when you arrive. We should roll out of my driveway by 4:20am in order to be at DD on Rt.13 by 5am. #7 and #10 you are welcome to leave your vehicles in the driveway during the trip. There is a relatively low crime rate in Princeton.
Depends on how many are in. The total cost of the trailer is at $2K. As far as I am aware these are the members who confirmed in writing: 3, 5, 10, 13, 99.
"Bull tickey" was coined by either Pres/Caboose Sr.
I can't believe I asked the Pres to drive MORE THAN 1 MILE to a meeting - what was I thinking?!?! I think that red circle is pulling out his hair, is that right?
If people could bring trailer money Sat nite so I don't ride around Canada with hundreds of dollars to loose I would appreciate it. (But maybe that's your plan to get me to pay for round after round. very sneaky.)
It would be great if #4 could give us our new trip in person that would be great, then we could have a toast for him as well. #4, I'm told there will be beer there. The bottom line is your hockey team beat his hockey team so you are entitled to your beer, how can anyone argue with that? They can't. period.
So I take it we are all in for the meeting, let's say usual time. I picked up the bass with the new EMG pickups and a new set of strings installed - whoa do they sound good! I wish I'd been practicing lately.
Cousin Mikey Bang Drum has delivered for us. The Ron Rubuccio Band (classic 70's rock w/ an open interpretive flavor) is playing at The American Grafitti this Sat evening 3/1. I think this is a good opportunity for our last planning meeting exactly 1 week before departure, and this location meets the adopted requirement that the meeting be held within 782 feet of the Pres' house with the bonus to hear live music from one of the family.
What say you?

ps> Rumor has it a member bassist will sit in with the band.
