Myself, lampi and 3 plug Doug rode out of Walpole NH. We meet lampi at the stateline store and headed north to our drop point in what we thought would be Keene. We heard you could drop at Chilli's parking lot but found we would have had to do quite a bit of blacktop riding to get to the main trail. We searched around and ended up looking over at the best Western but didn't see any tracks leading from the parking lot to the main trail. We were getting discouraged since the trail was within 100 yards of us the entire time we searched for a legal drop point but could not find it. We finally decided to just drive farther north to some pancake place lampi said we could drop at. 10 miles later we passed the pancake drop where the trail was and kept going? Confused I sarcasticly called lampi and asked if he'd like to continue up to Lyme! We had wasted an hour searching for a drop point and I wanted to ride not now...RIGHT NOW! A few miles up was Walpole and we parked at the Pinnicle tractor/polaris dealer. Finally! We were ready in a flash and headed down a field and blew by the 1st left to the get us to C5. Oh well, the trail was mfast and we had to let out some speed. We turned around and crossed the road and made our way to C5. The trail was a little wider than single track and was bumpy. I know we were all thinking "is this what we have to look forward too?". We crossed a couple of water bars and made it to 5. What we saw was a freshly groomed trail! WOW! Speeds picked up and we headed North. We soon ran into some crazy looking man swinging a chainsaw, cutting up a freshly dropped birch tree across the trail. I couldn't help but think he did this on purpose and was waiting for some yuppies to come across to torture. I kindly let 3 plug appraoch the creature 1st so I could at least get a running start in case he lopped off one of Dougs arms. I had movie flashes of Scarface, Texas chainsaw, and that weird Austalian movie were the weird dude claims to help out broken down tourists and proceeds to torture them. lamppi commented on the mans homemade trailer and the white bearded ape quickly hollered "what do I look...stupid?". I quickly replied, "hell no, if your smart you'll cut this limb right here and we'll be on our way" , Jease, very strange. Following the groomed trail we ran into a couple of deer and I didn't think of taking out the camera...ooops. The trail was awesome, it was wider than usual and we continued up into some nice fields. We stopped for a break and 3 plug was looking under his sled and poppped up to tell us he had broken his limiter straps? The trails were fine? WTF?  He explained they were already on their way out and this was a Yamaha skid problem. Lampi supplied a razor and we cut the bad strap out. All of us were sweating due to the 40 temps, it felt like a true late winter ride. We agreed to find some food and water and made our way to a small deli where we sugged down a sandwich and gatorade. We pushed north and decided to get gas in Clairmont. I always thought it was cool to ride down the main street side by side with traffic and wait for the same traffic lights in order to cross and get gas. 3 plug said the place reminded him of fitchburg and was least impressed about crossing the road and traveling a ways in order to gas up. He did have brand new pilot skis on his Apex, so I couldn't blame him. Gassed up, we headed back to the trucks...Doug and I had time limits. We all could have/wanted to ride further but time wasn't on our side. He doubled back and took a loop around towards C5. We backtracked as little as possible and the ride was excellent. As we came by the area were Crazy beard was spotted, I saw the 2 deer I had missed earlier. This time I ripped out the camera and was able to snap a few pics...cool. We stopped to take in a few more views of bordering Vermont. We all commented on the great conditions and views. We arrived back at the trucks with just under 100 miles logged. 98 to be exact. It was still light out..another benefit of late season riding. The hour drive home was a breath of fresh air compared to the usual 3.5 hr drive from Nash.
