I think this video deserves commenting. This shaky homemade footage is clearly moment defining action preserved forever on video. An instant classic. Note the directors use of sound, daylight and the Earth to make his statement about what that time was all about.
In the first part of the video I'm not sure what those machines are that the riders are riding. Some crazy 4 wheeled contraptions. They make the sound of a swarm of angry bees. They look dangerous and barely controllable. It shows the care free and slightly crazy nature of the founding WPR members.
Now in the second part of the video, the action kicks into high gear as WPR grows to its fifth member. With their multi-colored equipment and classic air-cooled machines, these guys tear it up and throw it down. You can hear the taunting dialogue as the challenges are fired back and forth at each other.
The tension is finally released as the video simply stops. I guess the film maker would like us to take away from the story what it is that each of us needs in our lives to make it memorable and lasting.
Truly great film making whose time has come and gone. One for the archives, meaning let's put it back in the archives.
