I recently read a blog that said one couple was pulled over four times and their info was written down every time causing big delays. They even waited in line at these check points. This was on a Gaspe tripe about a week or so ago. Good luck.
I went all the way back to the 3rd of these 25 posts to see the date of the meeting in the middle of a long winded post. Let's just say that I will not be going back and combing through 25 posts again, nor will I be counting how many post are in a thread again.
That said, I very much look forward to this meeting. I will see you all Thursday. Attending the trip or not any and all should attend this meeting for a laugh or two.
I am out of my mind right now thinking that I have to wait 15 more days to leave. I am patiently waiting to get the bill from Bob's Ski Doo for my tune up.
This is going to be the best trip ever. I am that optomisitic. Every year when we get to the hotel, I have trouble sleeping the night before the first ride. The excitement of riding north of the border in God's country is what I think about all year long.
To the other that are going, I thank you in advance for this.
Please read posts before hitting reply. The date, time and location of the Gaspe meeting has already been set earlier in this post. There have also been contingency dates offered but with no conflicts to the original time by any members attending the trip it is all set.
My kids will not be attending the meeting.
I will not leave the meeting unless it is to go get more beers from the downstairs fridge or to take a leak.
I never heard any complaining when the meeting was at #4's house earlier this year. In fact, it was the one meeting I attended.
See you then. In the meantime #2, #5 and #10 will be snowmobiling between now and the meeting.
Now now don't everybody jump on me but it doesn't look good for me this year; I'm not sure I can make the trip. My son got stitches the other night and they won't be coming out for a week. Then I'll need to monitor the scar for at least a week or two. Not to mention the used generator I purchased for the ice storm and wanting to do the right thing here at work. My pre paid trip to Dennys has been re scheduled during the Gaspe trip.
PS It kills me because this would be the best year ever to go now that 13 is out.
I am a bit confused about what a "gross misunderstatement" is...
Please reconsider coming on this trip. I suggest running it by the opposition one more time and see what happens.
We are less than 3 weeks away from the trip.
As it stands, I need to cancel one of the three rooms. They are already booked for the first and last night. I will call Hotel Rimouski by the end of the week to cancel.
Ok, Let the virtual (or real) beatings begin......
It appears that March is once again a bad time for me to plan a vacation. As with the past two years, things have come up that will prevent me from attending this trip. To say I am dissappointed, would be a gross misunderstatement.
I know most of you probably don't care so I won't give you an excuse other than to say that this isn't my employer telling me that I have to stay. This is case of trying to do the right thing and show professional accountability during a very difficult time for employees (I know, Hard to believe that I am actually in HR).
Sorry guys. Once again I have to enjoy the trip through pictures.
Meeting sound great! I think I could dig up one or two SledNecks, etc. vids for the event. Let me check if I have them...
As for the trip tis year I am most likely not going to make it(truly Bummed!), the expense of bringing the family to Bolton this year coupled with extra expenses Generator for Ice Storm, Plow for driveway, etc., and this economy downturn (life of a sales guy) have really put a damper on extra expenses right now.
I'll be looking forward to all the pics and vids to bring back those 08' memories of 'The Best Trip Ever'.

Take a look at this place in New Richmond. This place would be 220 miles from Rimouski and a place to stay on night 2 if we went counterclockwise. If we went clockwise it would likely be for day 4.
This route would allow us to take some trails that we did not see last year, such as 579 and 587 and parts of 5 that we did not go on. Think about it. I know #5 is looking to plan some routes.
Counterclockwise would save the fabulous north shore and those mountains for the end of the trip.
Think about it and chime in. What are some other routes that have been mapped out? Let' hear it.
I'm sorry to say I am out this year. My daughter broke her arm in January and the only date we could reschedule the (pre-paid) family ski trip to conflicts with the Gaspe trip. I was on HCS the other day looking at pics from someones recent Gaspe trip and it brought back some great memories, I'm bummed. On another note, I'd like to go north next Sunday for a day trip if anyone wants to ride.
The only sooner I could do is Tuesday 2/24 or Wednesday 2/25 but I and the meeting spot is certainly open to either of those dates.
#7, I applaud your bold action. As I said on the phone, I am 100% in so there is at least 1 room filled already. Thank you for your fail-safe vision.
Why so little response on this post? Are there fence sitters out there still? There were members at meetings in September that have not chimed in yet. The trip is 3.5 weeks away.
I will order my pass promptly. I am looking forward to mapping out a loop that changes our trip enough to make it feel new in addition to the reverse direction.
Following #7's lead, I am requesting that the members that plan to attend this year's Gaspe Trip come to a final arrangements/booking meeting. Here are the details:
When: Thursday, February 26 8:30pm-whatever Where: #5 house (address offline) What: Make reservations, plan route, arrange trailering, details, members attending, talk snowmobiling, etc, etc, etc. Why: Need to pull it together - departure only 10 days after How: I will supply beer, chips, couches, tables, pencils, telephone, maps, Gaspe services directory, broadband internet access, lights, music, TV, candles, heat, parking, dvd player (if someone brings a sled video)
It could be a fun time and will be a real working meeting.
NOTICE: ATTENDANCE SHOULD BE IF POSSIBLE BUT AT LEAST LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE IN OR NOT THIS YEAR B/C WE WILL BOOK ROOMS.
IMPORTANT: QUEBEC TRAIL PASSES SHOULD BE ORDERED AND HELD AT THE SKI-DOO DEALERSHIP WE STOP AT ON 55.
I spoke to the Hotel Rimouski and they have rooms available. They have a package with hotel only, hotel & breakfast, hotel & breakfast & dinner. You can decide upon arrival.
They have a pool, sauna, restaurant, bar, spa-messages, nearby nightlife, gas station and free parking with 24 hours video surveilence. The trail goes right from the hotel.
Say the word and I'll book Sunday-March 8th and Thursday-March 12th (riding 4 days: 9th, 10th, 11th 12th stay night of the 12th) Friday wake up and go home.
