Well, just learned that #19's Lego Robotics team made the Massachusetts championship which is this Saturday 12/19 all day. Since I am the coach I will need to be there as well. So we will more than likely be practicing on Friday night so I won't be able to make a meeting. The competition will be finished by 5pm so I am still free to meet up at night.
Since there are so many conflicts and the holidays upon us, why don't smaller groups just get together to do planning on days that are best for them. From there we can agree on arrangements on the page and call and make the necessary reservations. Then we can have a final meeting in early January to get together and button up details. That meeting can be at my house if we all want or whatever.
So, I would love to get together with anyone who is free this Saturday just call my cell and let me know. I don't care where we meet because I don't need to be anywhere on any schedule.
Snow is on the ground! No more Brown Backyard Syndrome (as the Pres so deftly named it years ago). Hit the slopes already and it's great to be back on the white stuff.
It is Monday 12/14 and we should decide what date to have the meeting on. #7 has been very patient but is now getting nervous. The departure date is less than 6 weeks away. I believe the following is where we are (#3 is right, post hijacks are a pain):
#2: any #3: 12/17 (#5 cannot make) #4: just wants to see the club all get along #5: 12/19 (#3 cannot make) #7: any #10: any #13: not sure if preference made #99: 12/18 #388: not sure if preference made
Bruins are doing ok. The young goalie (Tuukka Rask-not a misspelling) has won the hearts of Bostonians. Nevermind Hockey.
The plan so far is to Drive through Maine and New Brunswick to either Point a la Croix or Carleton as a starting point on the South Shore of Gaspe'. Refer to map.
A night's stay in Perce is a priority and easily reached in one day. We made it from Carleton to Perce by 3:30pm last year.
This year we will have about an hour less sunlight because we ride six weeks earlier.
Despite that, I still propose that we take the 90 mile loop on the orange trail from Carleton to New Richmond before heading to Perce. This would entail about a 260 mile day. It's the first day, why not? We made it last year without the loop with plenty of light left.
These orange interior local trails are the reason why #3 and I have discussed needing to go back to Gaspe' so much. The people that we spoke with last year raved about these interior trails. I for one want to give them a shot.
We've also got the orange trail from Perce' to 597 towards Murdochville on the agenda.
Sometimes these things go exactly as planned and more often we improvise after day one.
Either way...it's riding on fast white snow north of the border. You can't beat it.
Get fired up. I am.

Passes: #3 knows some guy who will get us blank dated one week Quebec passes. I just order mine 3 weeks ahead of time each year-no prob.
Hockey has enough fans to support a hockey themed bar?? That's good news. Between the failing Patriots and the red hot Celts, I haven't even heard the B's mentioned once in sports talk. Has the season started yet?
I think the hockey bar on Airport Rd. sounds great and clearly meets the rule. Now #3 just needs to check a calendar and we'll be all set. I apologize up front for proposing a Saturday night in the dead center of holiday party season. I cannot make the 17th but I can make the 19th for sure. Come now, let's be honest here, would you rather sit politely at someone's house sipping fancy wine and eating chocolate covered crackers with sprinkles on top having mind-numbing conversation about window caulking with your wife's cousin; or would you rather be with your friends watching the B's at a bar that was concieved and built in their honor draining beers and planning the best 4 days of the year??!!!?? C'mon Man!!
Can someone please post what the latest start point that has been discussed. I understand an overnight at Perce is decided. Beyond that, I believe it was Pt. St. La Croix or something like that? Was travelling through Maine up I-95 through New Brunswick to a southern point of the Gaspesie being proposed? Could we get trail passes on that route? Or have them waiting at the 1st hotel again, paid and filled out in advance? I can look into that once we pick the drop point.
I would like to build a route proposal based on what has already been discussed to bring to the next meeting if possible. #7 has got me fired up with promises of this being the best trip ever! He always works very hard to make sure his promises come to fruition.
No job yet so it's looking good for me. (Geez that sounds bad!!!!) Think I'll pull out the sled and get started making it ready. Just that thought notches up the excitement for me! #5
Prefect attendance here. I am in for thursday the 17th? Let's get it going. I like the sound of the new hockey theme bar on airport road. I haven't been there yet. Any takers? (Always interested in breaking new ground..... Aren't you?)
Suggesting The Luxury Box or Classics Pub as a meeting location (believe both meet the 5 mile Pres' radius rule). Maybe Cousin Mike's band will be playing (the top 40 band Sin City, not the classic rock Ron Rubbucio one we saw at American Graffiti.)
Friday or saturday nights preferred, any place within 1 -3 miles from my house..so there is only 12 places to go...# 7 you are welcome to sleep over (full breakfast included)
Observation of this years Meeting...........
Travel distance for meetings is @ an all time high.
Meeting attendance is @ an all time Low.
Fun Factor best year yet...Racing....Night boat ride...Sauna...really good beer...best shrimp i ever had.... but is most likely why we don't have more details finalized about the trip.
Decided facts about the trip...i think?
We know the trip is the week of 24th
We know we are going to Gaspe'( Interior trails as a priority )
We know we can get trail pass's with a blank date
We know we are staying in Perce @ motel Fleur de Lys (short bus ride)
