RE: 3rd Meeting for 2011 Trip

#7, you're right about chicken wings, I forgot to mention hair also.

Blah.

Are we really waiting until Feb 26th to meet?

We should really talk about this at some point between now and then.

I will search for cabins and hotels in the mean time.

I'll post some and perhaps we can stir some discussions with them.

If someone has already done so, post the links of what you would consider contenders for WPR.

Let's see what we can get.

As #23 says: chicken wings are peasant food, all bones skin and cartiledge.

I have thrown out many dates, Feb is getting tight for me, I can't stand too many hands on my time, especially in this "quiet" time of year.  Week of Feb vacation is out for me.

I will mention this, there is a supposedly great Irish band [Black 47] playing in Clinton on Saturday, Feb 26 in the evening that I am trying to attend.  It is a benefit for something or other.  We can take in a show and then hit a pub afterwards, I think there may be one or two in Clinton.

Confirmed 90% in:
#'s: 2,3,5,7,10

Confirmed out:
#'s: 13

Unknown:
#'s: 99,388

I will take the 4-place the week before the trip and go through any last minute repairs that are needed; and I will tow this trailer.  We may need a chase vehicle just to hold large men.  I'd like at least one person riding shotgun with me.

I am not worried about booking a hotel in Millinocket in March.  Even if we have to get regs on Monday morning at a local dealership it shouldn't be too bad.  We should plan some ride routes at least to get us started.  We can look for trail condition reports online the week before.

I will check with #88 for any insight for lodging and trails.

Will we confirm Feb 26 at Clinton Town Hall for the Irish Band, I can buy tix in advance and we can purchase a table as well.  I will find details.

10 and 5, please propose a meeting night. I've never been to Buffalo Wild Wings, but I'm intrigued by the commercials.

Wednesdays are out for me and #3.

I can pretty much work things out any other night.

***LESS*** than a month until we go.

We don't have lodging or vehicles worked out yet.  I volunteer mine, but with only a two place trailer.

Without those we are at home watching March Madness (ok just me).

I'm out gentlemen.  My wife is starting her new (almost full time) role at the hospital that requires evening hours so we don't have any kid coverage.  Weekend rides for me this year.  Speaking of which, had a great time yesterday on my trails leading 2 kids on 120's, one on a sno-scoot, and one on an Ovation 340.  Had to dig each sled out at least once (including my Ventureblankstare) as that freaking snow is deep if you get off the trail!!  Little sore today but a great day with the kids.  -13

We might have to register in Maine rather than by phone or internet.

Sledmaine.com says that you can only renew on line. New registrations must be done in person.

We'll screwed if the trip needs to be changed to someplace besides Maine.

A meeting is definately in order.

I am 100% in this year, but don't have towing equipment this year. I do have a two place trailer ready to go though.

I am up for making a pan of Lasagna for one evening.

Worcester or anywhere this week should be good for me now that I am back in town.

I am at 95 %.

The trailer is being worked on.  Here is the current status.  one new lock down stud is being installed on the front right.  One left side marker light is being replaced.  The new sticker has been installed.  Work to be done.  It should have additional lights reworked so that they are operational.

I will drive if I have to.  I will need to borrow Number 2's trailer brake again.  I wouldn't mind taking the year off.

Worcester sucks for me.  Is that city convenient for anyone?  I like the sound of ... say, how about the New Buffalo Wings restaurant in Kmart plaza?

Wednesday are no good for me.  I have ice hockey practice in Groton from 6:45 till 9:00.  I am home by 9:45.

I can eat any night.  Thanks.

Register.  I like it.

I am in for the trip-100%.

I don't know anything about the trailer.

I can drive a two place trailer if need be.

Worcester kind of blows for me, but I will most likely be there unless it's a Wednesday.

I will cook one night.  I vote for eating in 1-2 nights and eating out the rest of the time. I hope to find a 4lb lobster somewhere.

I hesitate to put any rooms on my credit card. I've believe I've paid my dues there. Someone else will need to step up.

I'll be at a bar in downtown Boston in 15 minutes, so I'm out for tonight. Sunday's the Superbowl, I'll be home for that.  Wednesday is always lousy for me. The other nights are good.

I say we "try" to register in Maine ahead of time.

Let's try to bring functioning communicators this time. It seems more and more we are riding without them. It causes problems when we don't. The technology is there, we should use it.

I like #5's initiative.

The 2011 Trip is 4 weeks away this weekend.  That's close!  There is open business to attend to:

- How many members are more than 90% in?
- What is the condition (and whereabouts) of the 4-place?
- What are the trailering arrangements?
- Who will tow?  (I will.)
- Where will we book for 1st night/trucks?
- What will the menu be and who will cook what meals?
- Are we registering in Maine in advance?  If so, how?

These are the minimum details we need answers to now.  I propose a final meeting soon.  We need 3 trip-going members to make a quorum.  I suggest Boston Billiards in Worcester.  Suggested dates:

Tonight, 2/4 @ 8pm
Sunday, 2/6 @ 7pm
Monday, 2/7 @ 8pm
Wednesday, 2/9 @ 7:30pm
Friday, 2/11 @9pm (#5's birthday) (he is 32 by the way) (he feels 32 anyway)
Sunday, 2/13 @ 7pm
Others?

These local trips are very nice, but we need to get our ducks in a row here boys!

ps> It appears we have picked the perfect year to stay closer to home with all this snow right here in New England!!!

I was under the impression it was 3/6 to 3/10 or 3/11.  A call is a good idea

I suggest we have conference call for those who want to attend this trip.

Let's get this cleared up so we don't have another trip with just 3 attendees.

So two have it as 3/6-3/10 (#7 & #10)
And two have it as 3/13-3/17 (#2 & #5)

Would others chime in with what they have planned for to avoid a potential scheduling disaster.  My schedule is already filled on dates around this trip so this needs to be corrected immediately.

I show 3/6-11 as the dates of the trip.

I will NOT be available for meetings 1/30-2/6.

Meeting quarters is coming along nicely and could be used. I hope to finish the pool table this weekend. Still no tunes installed just yet however but a portable music box would do.
I am also amenable to bowling, jillians, billiards, etc.

I agree with the ft. Kent/ caribou night so we can do some more riding in the far east.
Riding in and out of millinocket could become a bit tedious as there aren't many option (as far as I remember). I'll have to refer to a map.

The trip is March 6-10th.

I can attend meetings whenever.

I like all the rest of the bullet points.

Hello Members

With another day of appreciable snowfall, and the turning of the calendar, it is high time to pick another meeting time.

We can go for late January or early Feb.  After a sub-committee meeting between the Pres and the Treas, it was assumed that by non-vote but by the motions of the previous meeting, that it has been decided it will be a full U.S. trip this year.

So with that understanding, we need to confirm certain assumptions in order to do specific trip planning.  Such as:

- we will depart on Sunday, March 13 mid-day
- the drive destination will be Millinocket, ME
- we will select and book one accommodation for our time in ME
- we will make day loop trips and return to the trucks each night
- we will not plan to ride in Canada at any time
- we will each bring and plan to prepare a meal each night
- we will each bring and plan to prepare a breakfast each morning
- we will plan to eat lunch on the trail each day
- we will bring our adult beverages with us
- one day will be planned to ride in Baxter State Park
- suggestions should be submitted by the those planning to attend in advance of the trip

Things that are still up for open discussion:
- we will ride 3.5 days and drive home Thursday evening or ride 4 full days and drive home Friday
- plan an optional one overnight up to Ft. Kent/Caribou and then return to Millinocket the following day
- we will try for a cabin with a common eating and recreation area
- each member should bring a suitable movie/show to watch in the evening
- plan an optional night to eat out at a restaurant.

** Perhaps we can plan the dinner out as the closing banquet on the final night. **

So as you can see there is still much to discuss.

#10, what is the availability of the meeting quarters at your place?

How about a bowling meeting at Mason's in Leom or a billiards meeting at Jillian's or Boston Billiards in Worc?

Dates: 1/28; or there is a car show at DCU on 1/29 we could make it a family meeting.
