After reading 7's recount, we should do this. I am afraid to read the story link Pes sent. For fear of getting too excited.
If each one of bought a ruckus, it would serve us for years to come. Think of the possibilities. The kids could take it to school on a day like today. It is a MEMORY MAKER.
Yes, I am an expert in all things mopeds. I still have a 1977 Sachs moped that still runs, I think.
Ride Report August, 1984.
The moped that I took from Needham to Westiminster is now retired. that was 1978 Puch. I liked the Puch much better.
Preparation for a trip is as follows. Fill up gas tank, check wallet for $10.00 and buy a $2.00 map of back roads from point A to point B.
The route:
I took Great Plain Ave in Needham to route 135 in Wellesley through Natick. I took 62 and stopped for lunch. I had the munchies for some reason. From there I took route 117 to backroads Leominster. I went right by #5's & #10's houses on Grant Street. It was the only way I knew. I took the winding backroads past the golf course on the side of the hill to through Sterling and Princeton to route 140 (the best part of the ride). From there it was smooth sailing to the WPR headquarters.
That day I was in what us moped riders call a "moped zone". Feeling the cool breeze in my hair, blasting upwards of 32 mph on this perfect engineering masterpiece. I'm sure #4 knows the feeling.
Could have made it on one tank, but I filled up half way. Approximately 75 miles.
We have a resident expert in the club. I believe Needham-Westminster is a similar length of Toronto-Inuit. If I recall, it took a similar amount of time to complete the journey. And perhaps if we can't make the journey back, Mrs. #2/7 could put our mopeds in her trunk and drive us home.
