RE: The Delta Wing racer at 24 Hours of Daytona......

I did not find it strange at all that the Corvette DP's finished so strong.  Did you expect one of the Oreca cars or GTLM to sneak in there?

The Delta Wing simply had some extended wear-type issues with the chassis that it could not overcome.

They'll build the carbon fiber a few millimeters thicker next time.

=)

What happened to it?  Engine or chassis failure?  Driver error?

Anyone find it strange that the DP took the top 4  finishing positions?

It appears like too many wholesale changes to the chassis for it to make it all the way to the end of this brutal endurance race. I love that it's out there though! I believe the DeltaWing has only completed a handful of standard length races. It's reliability is improving all the time, but there are significant changes and it is the first race of the season, so 24 hours will prove just too much for this groundbreaking racecar. That's the rationale behind my vote. I hope I'm wrong!

Does anyone think Dan Panoz's Delta Wing will place, or finish at all in this year's classic endurance event?

Logging some fast, competitive laps in a test session is a far cry from executing for the whole event.

Seems like a long shot to me......
