Pittsburg day 3

On the third day of our Pittsburg odyssey, we started out the day with another finely crafted breakfast prepared by #2. The menu consisted of pancakes and, yes, more sausage. Soon after breakfast, we geared up for the elements and were on our sleds by 9:30. The weather was much milder than that of Monday and Tuesday. We had clear skies and a high of 30 for the first half of the day and a few snow flurries in the afternoon. We set course for some local Pittsburg trails that we hadnt ridden on yet and before we knew it we had completed fifty miles.

We decided to fill up at this mans cabin that was selling gasoline by the 5-gallon buckets. After #2 and #3 chatted with him for a bit, we set course for the Magalloway Mountain snow bowl once again. There were nicely groomed trails all the way there and it began to snow when we arrived at the side trail to the bowl. With some reluctance, everyone (including #1) made it into the snow bowl. Everyone, with the exception of #2, ventured to the top, where we witnessed amazing views despite the newly falling snow. We soon left this adventure and went onto another: finding the fire tower. With #3 leading us, we rode up an untraveled trail and all came to a sudden stop when #3 hit a rock and got stuck (pictured on the WPR.com homepage). After we dug ourselves out and turned around, we charted a course for home, across First Connecticut Lake.

Back at the cabin, we all decompressed and watched some more Curling in Sochi. We decided to eat dinner at a normal time for once and soon headed out to Bucks Rub Pub once again. Day 3 was an excellent way to end a superb ride north.
