Well, the day started off as one of the best riding days I've had from home base.  I had repaired the speedo issue...rubber exterior sensor unglued.  The sky was clear, blue and sunny.  Every trail I hit was groomed.  Heading through Pillsbury state park, I once again ran into the groomer just grooming basically a flat trail I was already enjoying.

I decided to head towards Bradford for gas and do a big loop up into Alexandra through Wilmot, Then loop around a trail I did last year that was led me through Mt kearsarge...we'll, 60 miles in, I started hearing/feeling ratcheting...It was around 1pm so I decided to pull off and see if I could tighten the track...after having an issue with one side, I manage to tighten the adjusters and get back on track.  Nope!  actually seemed worse and I had to self talk myself that I went the right way.  Looking at the gps map, I thought for a minute I could try to limp home...over 60 miles.  nope, it would be dark, I wasn't carrying my weapon and I figured I'd just trash the sled.

As I crossed a road I saw a guy snowblowing and I decided to turn around and ask for a hand.  He was a doo guy and after some ribbing, we were jacking up the sled to see if I could tighten up the track...we both noticed at the same time that the track was indeed tight...we also noticed my left side torsion link was snapped...wtf!  I went right to the forward reverse actuator which is the worst engineering crap job on the sled.  Its a plastic gear driven by a brass worm gear...I've read that if it straps it may not fully engage.  I was getting some real bad grinding on acceleration.  I took the actuator off but couldn't get at anything else without ripping it apart.  ughhh.  John..the good sledding Samaritan offered to load it up and drive me back...2-1/2 hour round trip.  I thanked him and made the call to the fiance'...hunny I'm broken down 60 miles away...oh, do you want me to pick you up!?  Yes please , I'm really sorry!

John gave me a chair to hang out on while he snowblower the driveway, I offered to help but he said he was all set.  I waited the 1 1/2 hour until Jaime showed up and I nursed the fat cat up a snowbank and onto the truck.  I thanked John and said I'd be back...he'll be receiving a venison care package at some point!

On the way home all I could think of was that old broken down cat video of the Canadian guy losing it when his cat went down...again!

I'm really at a crossroads...the season just kicked off here and I've been "looking"  No deals are to be had out there and 22's are going to be coming out this month...I may be done for the season if it's not a quick fix.  Sarge out
